Scaling up the Climate-Smart Investment Pathway (Stepwise) for smallholder coffee farmers in Mount Elgon_Tracer I dataset

Abstract

The project intends to build on the existing learnings from the Climate-Smart Investment Pathway (Stepwise) being tested in Mount Elgon, Uganda expanding the approach to include the concept of Living Income. More specifically, it attempts to develop a portfolio of Climate-Smart Agriculture strategies deriving a combination of Stepwise actions and activities articulated in the dimension of Living Income Gap reduction. Both IITA and Olam intend to jointly develop simple smallholder coffee farmer tailor-made solutions prioritising the most important activities for a coffee farming household from the view of reaching a living income. The project will identify the most cost-effective series of actions ensuring the most suitable Return on Investment, while demonstrating an improvement in closing the living income gap
